PAUL EHRLICH (1874)

Medical scientist known for his pioneering work in hematology, immunology and chemotherapy and for his discovery of the first cure for syphilis.

After medical education at the University of Leipzig, Ehrlich was appointed a clinical assistant at the University of Berlin (1878). He was associated with Robert Koch´s Institute for Infectious Diseases and was appointed director of the Institute for Serum Investigation at Berlin in 1896 and to a position in the new Institute foe Experimental Therapy in Frankfurt am Main in 1899.

He received the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1908 for his work on immunity.
